Early Morning Frost

Midge woke up early and ran to the kitchen and out the little doggie door to the back yard. She quickly stopped and looked around at the trees and the bushes.

“Wow!” thought Midge. The light glistened off the trees like many shiny gems hanging on them. “This is really beautiful.”

She stood for a short time just looking around at the back yard that was covered in a white blanket. She walked into the yard to take care of business and the ground made a crunch noise beneath her feet. She hurried back inside and jumped into the chair next to Snappy's tank and curled up in the blanket her owner set there for her.

“You are up early today,” said Snappy.

“Good morning Snappy,” smiled Midge. “Yes it is early. I had to go outside and could not wait any longer. Did I wake you up?”

Do you Like the Rain

 Midge woke up early to the sound of thunder rattling the windows. She lifted her head from the bed and looked toward the window. Flashes of light could be seen through the curtains. Her owner was still sound asleep. In a few minutes she could hear the rain hitting the window. “I guess the rain is better than the snow,” thought Midge. “Maybe spring will be coming soon. It must be a little warmer outside to be raining.”

She laid on the bed listening to the rain fall. Before long, the radio on the little table near the bed began to play. She glanced at her owner who rolled over and reached for the radio to shut it off. She patted Midge on the head.

“Good morning girl,” said Midge's owner. “Sounds like we are having some rain today.”

Happy Valentine's Day

Midge ran over to Booker-T's house as he was coming around the corner from the back yard.

“Hey Booker-T,” said Midge.

“What are you doing?” asked Booker-T. “I was just coming to your house. I wanted to say hi to Snappy before we go to Jake's house.”

“Okay,” smiled Midge. “This is for you.”

“Thank you,” said Booker-T taking the little treat from her. “What is this for?”

“Today is Valentine's day,” said Midge. “So this is my valentine to you.”

“But isn't Valentine's day for Sweethearts?” asked Booker-T.

Wishing for Summer

“Hey Midge!” called Booker-T as he entered the house.

“Hi Booker-T,” said Midge. “Are you ready to go to Jake's house?”

“Yes” said Booker-T. “I want to go say hi to Snappy before we go.”

The two ran to the living room and Booker-T leaped into the chair and onto the tank.

“Hi Snappy!” greeted Booker-T looking down into the tank.

“HI Booker-T,” smiled Snappy. “What are you doing?”

“Midge and I are going to Jake's house in the snow,” said Booker-T.

“It is too cold out there,” said Snappy.

“I know,” said Booker-T. “And there is a lot of snow on the ground, but people got all the snow off the sidewalks so it is only cold and wet right now.”

The Stranger at the door

“Hi Midge,” said Jake as he crawled through the doggie door into the kitchen at Midge's house.

“Wow!” Exclaimed Midge. “You are here early this morning. My owner just left for work.”

“I know,” said Jake. “I was sitting out there in the dark waiting for her to leave.”

“Why?” asked Midge. “Is everything all right? You don't usually come this early.”

“Everything is fine,” said Jake. “My owner left early today for her job and I wanted to come over here to say hi to Snappy and got tired of just sitting at the house alone.”

“So you sat outside alone in the dark?” said Midge.
