The New Friend

“Do da do da,” sang Midge as she entered the living room.

“Hi Midge,” called Snappy looking out the tank window. “You are singing this morning.”

“Oh yes,” said Midge. “I guess I am.”

“What are you happy about today?” asked Snappy.

“We went to see the dinosaur statues yesterday and after we saw them, we went to the zoo,” said Midge.

“Was it fun?” asked Snappy.

“It was really good,” replied Midge. “Those dinosaurs are really big animal monsters. I'm happy they don't live in our city.”

“Are they really big?” asked Snappy.

Meeting the New Zoo Animals

“Hey Jake,” said Midge. “Is that a lion over there?”

Jake looked in the direction that Midge was pointing to. “ Yes,” replied Jake. “He's bigger than I thought. I never saw one up close. Lets go see him.”

“How do you know that it is a he?” asked Midge.

“See the big mane around the neck?” asked Jake. “The boy lions have that mane. The girl lions don't.”

“How do you know that?” asked Booker-T. “I didn't know that.”

“I saw it on the TV one night when my owner was watching a show about Africa,” answered Jake.

New Zoo Animals

 “Those were really big monster animals,” said Midge as the three walked along the sidewalk on their way to the zoo holding building.

“I know it,” said Booker-T. “I hope they never come here to our city. They are so big that they could step on our houses and crush them.”

“Do you think they will ever come here?” asked Midge.

“I don't know,” said Jake shaking his head. “I hope not. Maybe Gabby knows. He knows everything.”

“Do you think he knows where these big monster animals live?” asked Booker-T.

The Monster Display

“Hey Midge!” called Booker-T as he ran into the living room of her house. “Where are you?”

“Hi Booker-T,” said Snappy. “Midge is in the bedroom. What are you doing?”

“He Snappy,” smiled Booker-T. “Did Midge tell you about the big monsters we saw yesterday?”

“She was telling me about them last night,” said Snappy. “They sound too big. The could step on me and not know it, I'm so small.”

“You are safe there in your nice home,” said Booker-T. “How are your new friends who are living there with you?”

What Are the Monsters?

The three friends went back to Jake’s house with Gabby flying above them.

“Why is the museum putting those big animals out there on display?” asked Midge.

“I don’t know,” replied Jake.

“I’ve never seen one of those big animals,” said Booker-T. “Do you think there are some living somewhere?”

“I don’t know,” said Jake. “If they are living somewhere, I sure don’t want to run into one.”

“Me either,” agreed Midge. “I bet they would eat a lot.”

“Probably would eat us too,” said Jake. “I hope they aren’t living anywhere close to our city.”

“That one sure had big teeth,” said Midge. “Did you see his teeth? Wow, he could eat us in one bite.”
