“Booker-T! Booker-T!” screamed
Midge as she entered the gate at his house. “Where are you?”
“I'm right here,” said Booker-T
as he came running around the corner of the house from the back yard.
“Why are you so excited? Are you okay?”
“It's the aliens Booker-T,” said
Midge pacing back and forth. “They really are here this time.”
“Where are they?” asked Booker-T.
“What did you see this time. The first time you thought the aliens
landed, it was hot air balloons in the park.”
“I know, I know,” said Midge.
“But this time they are here. They are really here.”
“Last time you saw a scuba diver and
thought he was a space alien,” said Booker-T. “What did you see
this time?”
“Lights,” said Midge.
“Lights?” asked Booker-T. “How
does that show that the aliens are here?”
“It was a space ship with lot of
blue lights all around it,” said Midge.
“Were you dreaming?” asked
Booker-T.
“No,” said Midge. “I saw the
round ship over the top of the water park last night,” said Midge.
“It woke me up in the middle of the night.”
“Wow,” said Booker-T. “Did you
see it?”
“I saw the lights, but it was too
dark to see the spaceship,” said Midge.
“If you didn't see the spaceship,
how do you know it was a space alien?” asked Booker-T.
“I just know,” said Midge. “I
saw the lights and it had this really strange noise it made.”
“What kind of noise?” asked
Booker-T.
“A spooky noise,” said Midge.
“Did it land over there?”
“No,” said Midge. “It just
flew around over there and then it took off up the street.”
“It was flying around the water
park?” asked Booker-T.
“Yes,” said Midge. “Don't you
believe me?”
“I believe you saw something,”
said Booker-T. “We just need to figure out what it was.”
“Can we go talk to Jake?” asked
Midge. “Maybe he will know.”
“Maybe I will know what?” asked
Jake as he joined them in the yard.
“Hi Jake,” greeted Midge.
“Hi,” replied Jake. “What do
you think I will know?”
“Did you know that a spaceship was
above the water park last night?” said Midge.
“No,” replied Jake. “Were you
dreaming?”
“No, Jake,” said Midge. “I
really saw it.”
“You thought you saw aliens
before,” laughed Jake. “There was always an explanation for what
you saw. Maybe this time there is another explanation.”
“Maybe,” sighed Midge. “It
looked like a spaceship.”
“Did it make a sound?” asked
Jake.
“It made a swirling noise,” said
Midge. “Kind of spooky sound. How do we find out what it was?”
“I don't know,” said Booker-T.
“Let's walk over to the water park and see if we see any aliens
walking around over there.”
“I told you it didn't land,” said
Midge. “It flew away.”
“Did you see which way it flew?”
asked Jake.
“It went toward your house,” said
Midge. “Did you see it?”
“I was sleeping,” said Jake. “I
didn't see anything and I didn't hear anything. Maybe it is at the
school grounds.”
“Do you want to go to the school
yard?” asked Booker-T.
“Lets go!” said Midge as she
hurried to the gate and started along the sidewalk.
“Slow down Midge,” said Jake.
“We will get there.”
Jake and Booker-T hurried to catch
up to Midge who was in a hurry to get to the school yard. As they
turned the corner, they saw a very large object standing in the school
yard.
“Wow Jake,” said Midge. “Look!
It is a spaceship.”
“It looks like a spaceship,” said
Jake as he stood there staring at the big silver object.
“Do you think it is a real
spaceship from outer space?” asked Booker-T. “It looks real.”
“I don't know,” said Jake.
“Lets get closer,” said Midge.
“I want to see.”
“Aren't you scared?” asked
Booker-T.
“No,” said Midge. “I don't
see any spacemen standing around. Come on.”
The three slowly walked toward the
spaceship as they looked around the yard.
“Do you see any windows in it?”
asked Midge.
“No,” said Jake as he walked
around the object looking it over.
“Wow,” said Booker-T. “It is
so big.”
Suddenly the object made a noise and
lights started to light up around the bottom of it. The three ran
back from it and stood staring.
“Is it going to take off?”
whispered Midge.
“I don't know,” said Jake.
“Why are you whispering?”
“I don't want them to hear me,”
said Midge.
“Who?” asked Jake.
“Whoever is inside that thing,”
said Midge.
“How do we know anyone is in it?”
asked Jake.
“Someone started the lights,”
suggested Booker-T.
“If someone is inside, how do
they see out?” asked Midge. “I don't see any windows.”
“If it is a spaceship,” said
Jake. “They must have something inside so they can see.”
“Do you see any cameras on the
outside?” asked Booker-T.
“No,” said Jake. “Nothing on
the outside.”
“That is so strange, Jake,”
said Midge. “Do you see a door?”
“No,” said Jake.
Suddenly the object made another
noise and a door began to slowly rise up to open it.”
“Lets run!” shouted Midge.
“The aliens are coming out. Hurry!”
“Wait Midge,” said Jake.
“Lets see who comes out.”
“Aren't you afraid they will
take you on the ship and take you to another planet?” asked
Booker-T.
“Naw,” said Booker-T. “ I
don't think the alien wants two dogs and a cat.”
“They might,” said Midge.
“I want to see who is coming
out,” said Jake.
In a few minutes, someone came to
the opened door and stood their looking around.
“It looks like a human,” said
Jake.
“Maybe he is disguised as a
human,” suggested Booker-T.
“Booker-T is right,” said
Midge. “We better run.”
“Don't you want to know who they
are?” asked Jake.
“I'm scared,” said Midge.
“Lets go home. Maybe Gabby will know what they are.”
“Okay,” laughed Jake. “Lets
go home. We can look in the paper and see if there is anything in
it.”
The three took off leaving the
Object standing there and still didn't know why it was here.
“We will try to find out
later,” said Jake. “I'm hungry.”
“You are always hungry,”
laughed Midge as they started walking toward home.
