The Funny Looking Animal

Midge hurried out the doggie door and ran around the house and out of the front gate.  Booker-T stood at his gate waiting for Midge so they could go to Jake's house.

“Good morning, Booker-T,” greeted Midge.  “Are you ready to go to Jake;s house?”

“I'm ready,” said Booker-T.  “Lets go.”

They walked along the sidewalk when they saw something laying in the middle of the street.

  “What is it?” asked Booker-T.

“I don't know,” said Midge.  “Lets go see.”

“Do you think it's a big turtle?” asked Booker-T.

“Maybe,” said Midge. “ But I don't think so. It don't look like Snappy.”

What Happened in the Barn

“Hi there guys,” said Betsy as she met the four coming out of the barn. “What are you guys doing?”

“Maybe we should ask what did they do?” said Daisy.  “They came running out of the barn fast.”

“Hi Betsy,” smiled Midge. “We came to the farm to play with Lucy and we wanted to say hi to you while we were here.”

“Lucy is lucky to have you guys as friends,” said Daisy.  “She was lonely till you came to meet her.”

Going Fishing

Midge came out of the bedroom and jumped into the chair next to Snappy's tank.  She pressed her nose against the glass and looked around for Snappy.  She hopped onto the back of the chair and poked her head over the top of the tank.

“Hi Snappy,” said Midge.  “Where are you hiding?”

Snappy poked his head out of the little house that sat behind his big log.

“Good morning, Midge,” smiled Snappy.  “What are you doing?”

“I'm going to Booker-T's house,” said Midge.

“That's okay,” smiled Booker-T as he entered the room.  "I'm here.”

The Car Show

Midge walked next door to Booker-T's house.  At the front door she called out to him.

“Hey, Booker-T!” called Midge.  “Where are you!”

In a few minutes, Booker-T ran around the house to the front where Midge was waiting.

“Hi Midge,” said Booker-T.  “Are we going to Jake's house now?”

“Yes,” said Midge. “Do you know what we are going to do today?”

“No,” said Booker-T.  “Do you have any ideas what we can show Lucy?”

“I know what you can do, Midge,” said Gabby as he flew down from the trees and landed in the yard.

The Merry-go-Round

Midge walked into the living room singing, “Hickory Dickory Dock.  The mouse ran up the clock,”

“What are you dinging, Midge?” asked Snappy.

“I think it is called Hickory Dickory Dock,” said Midge.  “Our owner's little niece was singing it yesterday.”

“I didn't hear her singing,” said Snappy.  “Did she sing her little song outside?”

    “Yes,” said Midge.

“Why did the mouse run up the clock, Midge,” asked Snappy.

Joey the Kangaroo

Midge, Jake, Booker-T and Lucy walked over to the other cage and stood staring at the animal in the cage.

“What are you guys looking at?” asked the animal inside the cage.

“What kind of animal are you?” asked Midge.  “You sure have long back legs.”

“I'm a kangaroo,” said the animal.  “My name is Joey, What's yours?”

“I'm Midge,” said Midge.  “And these are my friends, Jake, Lucy and Booker-T.

“What are you doing here?” asked Joey.  “You aren't in a cage like me.”

The Living Teddy Bear

“Look at the teddy bear,” said Lucy as she walked toward the back cage. “Isn't he cute.  My owner's little girl has a teddy bear that looks like this.”

“He's a living teddy bear” laughed Midge.  “I think he is sleeping.”

“The paper on the cage door says he is a Koala bear,” read Jake.

“I think he looks like a teddy bear,” said Lucy.  “I think my owner's little girl would like to have a living teddy bear.”

“I think the little humans like teddy bears,” said Midge.  “My owner's niece has one she carries with her all the time.  Her little teddy bear is brown.”

“My owner's niece has one too,” said Jake.  "Her teddy bear is black and white. I think my owner called it a panda bear."

“Why do they always have teddy bears?” asked Lucy. “Why not a nice doggy?”

“I think that is a good question” said Midge.  “Do you know why Jake?”

“I don't know,” said Jake.  “I think the humans always buy teddy bears.”

“That's kind of sad,” said Midge.  “I never thought about that.  Lets go check out that big hippo.  The Koala bear is still sleeping. He must be really tired.”
