The Little Lost Human

The four friends strolled along the sidewalk to the petting zoo area of the big transfer building. They ran around the building and found many little humans visiting all the baby animals.

Wow, look at all the animals in there,” said Booker-T.

Do you see the little pig,” said Midge.

Hi,” said a little pig that walked up to Midge. “Are you looking for me?”

I don't know,” said Midge. “What is your name?”

I'm Curly,” said the little pig.

That is a cute name,” smiled Lucy.

My tail curls up so they called me Curly,” smiled the little pig. “Who are you guys?”

I'm Midge, this is Jake, and that's Booker-T and the other one is Lucy,” said Midge. “We were looking for our friend Pinky.”

No Pinky here,” said Curly. “Maybe he went to another petting zoo. I think the owner changes the places we go to. Do you come here all the time?”

We come sometimes to see all the baby animals,” said Midge.

We also visit the zoo animals inside the building,” said Jake. “Do you ever go inside?”

Oh no,” said Curly. “We are out here in the back and then they put us in a truck and drive us to a big barn where we stay for a while and they send different animals to the petting zoo area to meet the humans.”

Oh,” said Jake. “So you go back and forth and the animals are different sometimes.”

Yes,” said Curly. “Over there is Porky the pig.”

We know a Porky, but he is a porcupine,” said Midge. “We met him in the big zoo building.

Why are the animals in that big building?” asked Curly.

They are in between two zoos,” said Jake.

What does that mean?” asked Curly.

They were at a zoo and are going to a different zoo, so they stop over here,” said Lucy.

I guess that is okay,” said Curly. “Over there is Ziggy the baby donkey and Billy and Tilly the billy goats and then they are Ally, Mickey, Jingles and Pepper the guinea pigs.”

Nice,” smiled Booker-T. “You have a lot of nice friends.”

Do you stay in the big building?” asked Curly.

No,” said Midge. “We live in a house with some humans.”

Why?” asked Curly. “Don't you like to stay with us here?”

We just come to visit,” said Jake. “We are house pets and we live in a house with humans.”

Can we live with a human too?” asked Curly.

I guess you can if a human wants you to,” said Booker-T.

Look at that human over there,” said Midge. “She is walking around and crying.”

Why?” asked Curly.

I don't know,” said Midge.

I heard her talking to someone,” said Booker-T. “She lost her little human girl.”

She lost her?” asked Lucy. “How did she get lost?”

Don't know,” said Booker-T. “Someone is looking for her.”

Maybe we can find her,” said Jake. “Lets go walk along the sidewalk and see if we can find her. Midge, you and Booker-T go that direction and Lucy and I will go this other direction.”

Okay,” said Midge.

They started along the sidewalk looking into back yards for a little lost human girl. Up and down the street and around the block. No one there. They walked another direction searching for the little human. They met back at the zoo building and stood outside the big doors.

Did you guys see anything?” asked Jake.

No, nothing,” sighed Midge.

Lets look inside the building,” suggested Lucy.

They walked inside and and looked around the big room and saw nothing. As the started to leave the building, they heard someone laughing. They turned and walked to the back of the room where 4 monkeys were jumping up and down and swinging on the bars. When they walked closer they saw a little human girl sitting near the cage. Midge walked up to her and poked her nose onto her arm. The little human patted Midge on the head and Midge took a hold of her shirt and pulled her as she started to walk to the door of the building. She held onto the shirt so the little girl human would follow her and Midge walked her around to the petting zoo where the mother saw her and ran to her and hugged her hard. Midge stood a moment and then she walked away back to join her friends.

You did good Midge,” smiled Jake.

Yes you did,” said Lucy.

I agree,” said Booker-T. “Can we go home now? I'm hungry.”
