Midge was in the
back yard when she heard a loud noise. She looked around the yard and
didn't see anything that would make the noise she heard. The noise
got louder and louder when suddenly across the back alley a huge
silver object came down in the field. Midge jumped up ad ran to
Booker-T's house next door.
“Booker-T!”
called Midge. “Booker-T! Where are you? Booker-T!”
Booker-T
crawled out of the house through the doggie door.
“Did you
hear that noise?” asked Midge.
“What was
that Midge?” asked Booker-T.
“I don't
know,” said Midge.
“Did you see
anything?” asked Booker-T.
“I saw this
big silver thing land in the field over there,” said Midge pointing
across the alley to the field. “Do you want to go see?”
“Maybe it
is your space aliens come to earth,” laughed Booker-T.
“Maybe it
is,” said Midge all excited about whatever it is. “I want to go
see. Come on Booker-T.”
“Hey you
guys,” said Jake from Midge's back yard. “I was looking for you.
What are you two doing over there?”
“Hurry
Jake,” said Midge. “Come on over here.”
Jake ran
through the front gate of Midge's house and into Booker-T's yard and
hurried into the back yard. “What are you guys doing?”
“Midge's
space aliens landed over there in that field, Jake,” said Booker-T.
“How do
you know they are space aliens?” asked Jake. “Midge has a big
imagination when it comes to finding her space aliens.”
“I saw it
Jake, and Booker-T also heard it,” said Midge. “It was really
loud.”
“But I
thought that the space ships were quiet,” said Jake. “I thought
they just hummed when they flew over. What did you hear?”
“It was a
loud roaring noise,” said Midge.
“I heard
it too,” said Booker-T. “But Midge was outside when it came down
and she saw it.”
“Lets go
look,” said Midge. “I want to see what it is.”
The three
started to walk to the field across the alley when they heard a lot
of sirens blasting and around the corner came a line of cars with
flashing lights. They entered the field where Midge saw the object
land. Following behind the cars with the flashing lights was a large
truck.
The three
quickly crossed the alley and ran into the field. They crouched down
low as they hurried across the field to get close to where everyone
was seen. They saw the cars and the big truck.
“Look Jake,”
said Midge. “See that big silver thing laying on the ground. Is
that a space ship?”
“You just
keep looking for the space aliens,” laughed Jake.
“What is
it?” asked Booker-T.
“I don't
know,” said Jake as they lay on the ground watching the humans
moving around it.
“What does
it say on that truck?” asked Midge. “There is a picture of a
space ship on it.”
“It says,
'Space Cadets,'” said Jake.
“See
Jake,” said Midge all excited. “Space aliens.”
“I don't
think Space Cadets and Space Aliens are the same thing,” said Jake.
“Maybe
space cadets are a code name for space aliens,” suggested Midge.
“We don't know.”
“What are
they doing over there?” asked Booker-T. “Can we get closer to
them.”
“Come on
Jake lets go closer so we can see and hear them,” said Midge.
They slowly
walked closer to where all the men were gathered around the silver
object.
“Come on
guys,” said a tall man in a dark green shirt and jeans. “Lets
get this loaded into the truck before people are out here trying to
find out what happened.”
“Wonder
what happened, Jake,” said Midge.
“Someone
will think that the space aliens landed if we don't get this out of
here,” said a young man in a black suit. “Get it into the truck
and lets get out of here.”
“It is
space aliens, Jake,” said Booker-T. “Midge is right. The space
aliens have landed. They are here.”
“Maybe they
are pretend space aliens,” laughed Jake. “I don't think an outer
space ship would be small enough to fit into a big truck?”
“They are
taking it away,” sighed Midge. “We will never know what it is.”
“Maybe it
is a toy space ship,” said Jake.
“Maybe Jake
is right,” said Booker-T. “Can we follow that truck?”
“We don't
know where it is going,” said Jake. “Lets just go to the park to
play.”
Booker-T and
Midge agreed and they ran back to the house and then started their
walk to the park.
“Maybe one
day that space ship will come back and we can meet the space aliens,”
said Midge as they walked along the sidewalk.
