Train Ride at the Park

Booker-T ran to Midge's house and Midge wasn't on the front porch, so he ran around to the back of the house and entered the kitchen through the doggie door.

"Hey Midge!" called Booker-T as she walked to the living room. "It's me! I'm here. Where are you?"

He leaped into the chair beside Snappy's tank and put his paws up on the glass and pressed his nose against the glass.

"Hey Snappy," said Booker-T. "Where are you?"

Snappy poked his head up from behind a rock.

"Hi Booker-T," greeted Snappy as he crawled onto the rock. "What are you doing?"

"I came to get Midge," said Snappy. "Is she still sleeping?"

"I don't know," said Snappy. "Maybe. What are you doing?"

"I came to get Midge," replied Booker-T. "We are going to get Jake and go to the park to ride the train."

"Maybe you have to go wake her up," suggested Snappy."

"Okay," said Booker-T as he leaped down from the chair and ran to the bedroom.

In the bedroom, he found Midge curled up on the end of the bed sleeping. He went to the bed and stood up his hind legs and put his paws on the bed. He reached out and tapped her on the nose.

"Hey there Midge," called Booker-T. "Time to wake up sleepy head."

Midge rolled over and lifted her head. "Booker-T, is that you?"

"Yes," said Booker-T nodding his head. "Wake up and you can see me."

Midge stretched and sat up on the bed. "What are you doing? You are early."

"No," said Booker-T. "You are late waking up."

"I went to sleep late last night," said Midge. "I didn't even get up when my owner went to work."

"Why did you go to bed late?" asked Booker-T.

"My owner was up working on something and I sat in the living room with her," said Midge.

"Why didn't you sleep in the living room when she was working?" asked Booker-T.

"I did a little," said Midge.

"Come on," said Booker-T. "We are going to Jake's house so we can go ride the train,."

"Okay," smiled Midge as she jumped down from the bed and went to the kitchen. "Wait so I can eat something, Okay?"

"Hurry," said Booker-T as he sat down to wait for Midge.

"Hey you guys," said Jake as he poked his head into the kitchen. "What are you doing? I was waiting for you."

"Hi Jake," smiled Midge. "I slept long time this morning. I'm ready now."

Jake pulled his head back and Midge and Booker-T came outside.

"Are you ready to go to the park?" asked Jake.

"Sure," said Booker-T. "Lets go."

As they started to go around the house to the front yard, Gabby flew down and landed on the porch railing. "Hey guys," said Gabby. "What are you guys doing?"

"We are going to the park," said Jake. "Want to come along?"

"What are you going to do at the park?" asked Gabby.

"We are going to ride the train," said Midge. "Come with us."

"I saw the big balloons at the park again," said Gabby.

"Lets ride the balloon again," said Midge. "I want to go into the air."

"They won't let you ride the balloon, Midge," said Jake. "Remember what happened last time."

"I got into the air," said Midge.

"Yes," agreed Booker-T. "But they were not happy with you."

"I know," sighed Midge. "But I like being in the big balloon basket. I can see a lot of things from up there."

"Lets just ride the train, Midge," said Jake. "We can go look at the balloons too if you want."

"Okay," said Midge.

They hurried into the park and went to the little station for the train. They stood on the porch and waited for the train to pull up to the station house. In a few minutes, the train pulled up and several humans got off the train. The three got onto the last car of the train and a couple of little humans walked up and got on the train. In a few minutes, the train started to move. They three sat up on the seat and looked around for the balloons.

"Over there, Jake," said Midge pointing her foot toward the balloons. "See the balloons over there."

"Yes," said Jake.

"They are really pretty," said Booker-T.

The balloons were close to the other train station house. When they pulled up to the station, they jumped off the train and ran toward the balloons.

"What does that sign say?" asked Midge.

Jake read the sign. "It says they are giving balloon rides today."

"I want to go," said Midge.

"I don't think they will let you in the basket for a ride," said Booker-T.

A man and two young humans walked to the red and blue balloon and paid the man for the ride. As they got into the basket, Midge walked to the back of the basket and when no one was looking, she leaped into the basket just as it was about to raise up into the air. She sat on the bottom of the basket looking up at the little ones.

"Look dad," said one of the little humans.

"Where did the dog come from?" asked the dad.

"She jumped into the basket when it started to go up," said the other little human girl.

"Maybe the dog belongs to the owner of the balloon," suggested the dad.

Midge stood up on her hind legs and put her front paws on the basket and looked down at the ground. "Wow," thought Midge. "This is nice up here."

In a few minutes, the balloon was brought down to the ground and the humans climbed out. While the man helped them to the ground, Midge leaped out and ran to where Jake and Booker-T waited for her.

"That was so much fun," said Midge. "And the man didn't see me. The humans in the basket thought I was with the owner of the balloon."

"I'm glad you didn't get caught this time," said Jake. "Come on, lets walk around and look at the balloons and go ride the train again."

"Okay," agreed Midge and Booker-T.
