What is a Half House

   “Midge!” called Snappy.  “Come see.”

“What is it?”asked Midge as she jumped into the chair.

“Look outside,” said Snappy.  “It is half a house coming down the street.:

“Wow,” said Midge. “What happened to the other half?”

“Do humans live in half a house?” asked Snappy.

“I don't know,” said Midge.  “I never saw a half house before.  Maybe I should follow the house.”

   “Where is Booker-T?” asked Snappy.

“I'm here,” said Booker-T as he entered the room.  “What are you talking about?”

“Did you see the half house when you walked over here?” asked Midge.

“A half house?” asked Booker-T.  “Are you dreaming?”

“A half house passed by us on the street,” said Midge.

“It really was a half house,” said Snappy.

“Were you dreaming too?” asked Booker-T.

   “I was awake,” said Snappy.

“Me too,” said Midge.  “Come on lets run up the street and maybe we can see it.”

  “Go look, Booker-T,” said Snappy.

“Okay,” said Booker-T.  “Come on Midge lets go find the half house.”

Midge and Booker-T hurried out the doggie door and started walking along the sidewalk in the direction that Midge saw the half house moving.  They walked three blocks when they saw the half house moving slowing on the street.

“Wow!” said Booker-T.  “It is a half house.”

“Where is it going?” asked Midge.

“I don't know,” said Booker-T as they followed the half house.

“What are you two doing?: asked Gabby as he handed on the sidewalk in front of them.

“We are following that half house,” said Midge.  “We never saw a half house before.”

“The other half maybe at the park now,” said Gabby.
“What park?” asked Midge.  “There are more half houses?”

“The city is building the Lakeside Park on the other side of the Oakdale Farm,” said Gabby.

“The Lakeside Park has half houses in it?” asked Booker-T.  “Are they for small families?”

“No,” said Gabby.  “Lakeside is a trailer park.  Each house is what humans call a double wide trailer. They will put two half house together and make it one big house.”

“Why do they have houses that are two half houses?” asked Booker-T.  “That is just funny.  Lets go see the park,” said Midge.

“Jake and Lucy maybe at your house now,” said Booker-T.  “Lets go get them and we can all go look.”

“Okay,” agreed Midge as they turned to go back.

Around the corner they saw Jake and Lucy coming along the sidewalk.

   “Hi guys,” said Midge.

“Snappy said you were following a half house,” said Jake.  “So we came to find you.”

“Gabby said they take two half houses and make one big house,” said Midge.

“They are trailer houses,” said Gabby.  “Humans call hem double wide trailers.”

“Where was the half house going?” asked Lucy.

“Somewhere near your farm,” said Midge.  “Its a new park for half houses.”

“Lets go see,” said Lucy.  “Do people live in half houses?”

“Yes, but they are together to make one before the humans move into the house,” said Gabby.  “The park is called Lakeside Trailer Park.”

The four of them started walking toward the farm. They passed the farm and over the hill they saw a large sign that read Lakeside Trailer Park, with a picture of a small lake and lot of trees.

“This is it,” said Jake. “Lets go see what they are doing?”

“Do you think they will kick us out?” asked Booker-T.

“No,” said Midge.  “Look over there. Three dogs laying under that tree.”

“Okay,” said Lucy.  Lets go in.”

They walked along the roadway looking at the homes.

“I don't see any half houses,” said Midge.

    “I don't see any either,” said Booker-T.

“Look over there,” said Jake.  “That truck is putting in a half house next to that other half house.”

They sat down under a tree and watched the humans move the half house.  They put the two half houses together and made them look like one big house.

“Wow,” said Lucy.  “That looks cool.  Two half houses are now one big one.”

“I like that big house,” said Midge.

   “Me too,” said Jake.

“Lets go look at the lake, suggested Booker-T.  “I see the water up there.”

They hurried along the road to the water. They saw little humans and some dogs playing in the water and some boats out on the water.

“We can come here and play in the water with them,” suggested Jake.

“That will be fun,” said Midge.

“Lets go to my home now,” said Lucy.  “It is right close to this park and we can play on the farm.
“Okay,” said Midge. “Come on guys, lets race.”
