Midge and
Booker-T strolled along the sidewalk on their way to Jake's house.
"We are
Sia..mese, if you please," sang Booker-T. "We are
Sia..mese if you don't please."
"What
are you singing?" asked Midge. "What is a Sia..mese?"
"It's a
cat," said Booker-T. "A very naughty cat."
"Why is
it naughty?" asked Midge.
"They
are mean," said Booker-T.
"Who
were they mean to?" asked Midge.
"There
was a pretty dog," said Booker-t. "She looked like you,
but she was brown instead of white and black."
"She was
a Cocker Spaniel?" asked Midge. k
"Yes, I
think that is what the dog was," said Booker-T. "She lived
in a nice house and the cats were mean to her and messed up the house."
"How many
cats were there?" asked Midge.
"There
were two of them and their owner was a mean old lady," said
Booker-T.
"Why were
they in the house?" asked Midge. "Did they go in there to
cause trouble?"
"The old
lady was there to help the nice lady take care of a new baby,"
said Booker-T as Midge and he entered the yard at Jake's house.
"Who had
a baby?" asked Jake.
"I don't
know," said Midge. "Booker-T was singing a strange song
about some mean cats called Sia..mese."
"Did
the cats have babies?" asked Jake.
"No,"
said Booker-T. 'The nice lady who lives in the house had the baby."
"What
house? What lady?" asked Jake.
"It was
in a movie that my owner was watching with her niece last night,"
said Booker-T. The mean old lady came to the house with two mean
cats."
"The
cats were mean too?" asked Jake. "And they were called
Sia..mese?"
"Yes,"
said Booker-T. "The Sia..mese is a kind of cat I think. Like
I'm an alley cat."
"Aw
Booker-T," said Midge. You aren't an alley cat anymore. You
have a nice home now."
"the two
cats were mean to the dog that was in the house," said Booker-T.
"They made a big mess in the house and blamed it on the dog."
"what
were their names?" asked Jake.
"I think
one had the name Si and the other one was named Am," said
Booker-T.
"Those
are funny names," laughed Midge. "What happened to the
dog?"
"Her
name was Lady," said Booker-T. "And they kicked the dog
outside and the mean old lady put some kind of thing around her nose
and mouth."
"They put
a muzzle on her?' asked Jake. "Oh the poor dog."
"What is
a muzzle for?" asked Midge.
"It keeps
a dog from biting someone," said Jake. "What kind of song
were you singing?"
"The two
cats in the movie were singing this song," said Booker-T.
"Sing it
again," said Midge. "Jake wants to hear it."
"We are
Sia..mese if you please," sang Booker-T. "We are Sia..mese
if you don't please."
"Keep
singing," said Make. "What else do you remember?"
"Do you
hear what I hear?" sang Booker-T. "A Baby cry? Where we
find baby there are milk nearby."
"Did they
hurt the baby?" asked Jake.
"No,"
said Booker-T. "But they made another dog look like he was
trying to hurt the baby."
"Wow,"
said Midge. "They really were mean. Who was the other dog and
what was he doing?"
"The
other dog was just a mutt, they said," said Booker-T. "He
saw a rat run under the baby's crib and tried to save the baby from
it, but the man got angry and didn't know. He thought the dog was
going to hurt the baby. He helped Lady get the muzzle off."
"What
movie were you watching?" asked Jake.
"I think
the name of the movie was The Lady and the Tramp," said
Booker-T.
"Who was
the tramp?" asked Midge.
"That
was the other dog's name," said Booker-T. "I think there
were two other dogs in the movie too but I don't remember their
names."
"Who
are they?" asked Jake.
"Well,
Lady was a pretty Cocker Spaniel like Midge and the Tramp was some
kind of dog they called a mutt," said Booker-T. "They
became good friends and at the end of the movie, they had little
puppies."
"I hope
that everyone was okay in the movie and the mean old cats and lady
went away," said Jake.
"Yes,"
said Booker-T. "The end was happy."
