The Shoes with the Blades

“Hey Jake!” called Midge and she and Booker-T hurried through the gate at Jake's house. “Hey Jake! What are you doing?”
“Who wants to know?” laughed Jake.
“Booker-T and I do,” sang Midge.
“You are in a good mood this morning,” said Jake. “What are you two up to?”
“We are always in a good mood,” said Booker-T. “Aren't we always in a good mood?”
“Oh,” said Jake. “I guess we are. So what are you two doing?”
“Did you see that new building near the gym?” asked Midge.
“I think they just finished building it last week,” said Jake.
“It opened today,” said Booker-T. “Midge and I saw lot of people going inside. Do you know what it is?”
“Gabby said it was a skating rink,” said Jake.
“What is a skating rink?” asked Midge.

The Strange Tortoise

Jake, Midge and Booker-T along with their new friend, Mickey
“Do you go to the zoo all the time?” asked Mickey.
“It's fun to talk to the animals at the zoo,” said Midge.
They walked to the door of the zoo and Jake said. “Look, they have a new sign out front with the name of the animals inside.”
“We see who is here before we go inside,” said Booker-T.
“What kind of animals are inside?” asked Midge.
“The sign says there are meerkats, chimpanzee, a brown fox, a falcon and a pancake tortoise,” said Jake.
“A pancake tortoise?” asked Midge.

Meeting Mickey

“Hey there Booker-T!” called Midge as she walked through the gate at Booker-T's house. “Booker-T, where are you? I'm here but I don't see you anywhere. Hello there.”
Booker-T came running out the little doggie door and around the house to the front where he found Midge standing in the front yard calling his name.
“Booker-T, I'm here,” said Midge.
“So am I,” said Booker-T. “I'm here now. What are you doing?”
“Are you ready to go to Jake's house?” asked Midge. “We are going to the zoo today.”
“I like the zoo,” said Booker-T. “Maybe they have a tiger today. I like tigers.”
“I know,” laughed Midge. “Orange and black ones.”
Midge and Booker-T, walked along the sidewalk on their way to Jake's house.
“Look Midge!” said Booker-T. “That house is going down the street.”

The Tourist Spot

“Hey Midge!” called Booker-T as he walked into the yard at Midge's house. “Hello!”
He didn't see or hear Midge so he quickly walked to the back yard and poked his head through the doggie door. Looking around the kitchen, he didn't see Midge. Her bowl of food sat on the floor near the refrigerator. He crawled into the kitchen and hurried to the living room.
“Hi Booker-T,” said Snappy as he pushed his nose against the glass. “What are you doing?”
“Hey there Snappy,” smiled Booker-T as he leaped into the chair beside the table where Snappy's home tank sat. “Where is Midge this morning?”
“I think she is still sleeping,” said Snappy. “She hasn't come out of the bedroom.”
“Is she sick?” asked Booker-T. “It is not like Midge to sleep this late.”
“She was awake late last night,” said Snappy.
“What was she doing?” asked Booker-T.
“She was watching TV with our owner,” said Snappy. “They were talking about something called a tourist spot.”
“What is a tourist spot?” asked Booker-T.
“It is a place for tourists to come and visit,” said Midge as she entered the room. “Hi Booker-T. I heard your question to Snappy.”
“What is a tourist?” asked Booker-T. “I never heard of a tourist.”
“I don't know,” said Midge. “I think they are people or animals.”
“What kind of people or animals are tourists?” asked Booker-T.
“I don't know,” said Midge.
“Can we go see the tourists?” asked Booker-T. “I want to see one.”
“Lets go see if Jake wants to go with us,” said Midge.
“Maybe he knows what a tourist is,” smiled Booker-T.
“Okay,” said Midge.
The two hurried through the kitchen and out the doggie door. “Don't you want to eat your breakfast first?” asked Booker-T as they stood outside in the back yard.
“I forgot about breakfast,” said Midge. “Come on back inside so I can eat first.”
They went back inside and Booker-T sat down and waited for Midge to eat before they went to Jake's house. As they walked along the sidewalk, Booker-T kept looking around at the people they saw walking along the sidewalks.
“What are you doing?” asked Midge.
“I was trying to see if anyone was a tourist,” said Booker-T.
“How do you know if you see one?” asked Midge.
“I don't know,” said Booker-T. “Do you think a tourist is one of those aliens you wanted to see?”
“Maybe that is what they are,” smiled Midge. “
“Do we have a tourist spot here in our town?” asked Booker-T.
“I don't know,” said Midge. “Maybe Jake will know. Lets hurry. I want to see on of those tourists.”
They hurried in through the gate at Jake's house and ran to the porch where they found Jake sleeping on the swing.
“Hey Jake!” said Midge. “What are you doing?”
“My favorite thing,” smiled Jake.
“What is your favorite thing?” asked Midge.
“Sleeping,” laughed Jake.
“Do you want to go to the zoo today and see what animals are there?” asked Midge.
“Maybe they have tourists at the zoo,” said Booker-T. “Do you know what a tourist is Jake?”
“No,” said Jake. “What kind of animal is a tourist?”
“Maybe that is what they are, Midge,” said Booker-T. “Some kind of animal that we haven't seen before.”
“I wonder if Gabby ever saw a tourist before,” said Midge. “You know he goes all over town and maybe he has seen a tourist.”
“He might know,” said Jake. “Lets go to the zoo and see what animals are there.”
“Do you think Gabby will be at the zoo?” asked Midge.
“Maybe,” said Jake. “Sometimes he goes to see what animals are there.”
“Lets go,” said Booker-T.
The three hurried along the sidewalk going to the zoo. They stood at the door of the zoo and looked around for Gabby. “I don't see him anywhere,” said Midge.
“Do you want to see what animals are in here?” asked Booker-T.
“Lets look outside first and see if Gabby is out there,” said Midge. “Gabby! Gabby! Are you here somewhere?”
They stood looking at the trees but no Gabby. As they started to walk back inside the zoo, Gabby came flying down out of the tree and landed on Jake's head. He leaned over and looked in Jake's face.
“Hey Jake,” laughed Gabby. “What are you doing?”
“We were looking for you, Gabby,” said Midge.
“Well, here is am,” smiled Gabby. “What is going on?”
“Do you know what a tourist is?” asked Booker-T.
“A tourist?” asked Gabby.
“Yes,” said Midge. “Do you know what a tourist is?”
“I never heard of a tourist,” said Gabby. “What is it? A different kind of animal?”
“We don't know,” said Midge. “We were hoping you knew.”
“Where did you hear about a tourist?” asked Gabby.
“On TV when my owner was watching a show,” said Midge.
“Did they show what a tourist is?” asked Gabby.
“No,” said Midge.
“We came to the zoo to see if there are any animals here called Tourist,” said Booker-T.
“Did you see any?” asked Gabby.
“No,” said Midge.
“Maybe the tourist is a house pet like you are,” suggested Gabby.
“I didn't think of that,” said Jake. “Maybe it's some kind of dog.”
“Or it could be a cat,” smiled Booker-T.
“How will we know?” asked Midge. “We can't ask our owners.”
“I don't know,” said Gabby. “I will listen around and maybe someone will be talking about this tourist animal.”
“Maybe you can find them at the tourist spot,” said Jake.
“Where is a tourist spot?” asked Gabby. “I don't know if we have a tourist spot here in town.”
“How do we know where it is if we don't know what it is?” asked Booker-T.
“What did they say on TV about the tourist spot?” asked Jake.
“They said something about a tourist spot opening here in town,” said Midge. “But they didn't say where or when.”
“I'll fly around town and see if they are doing any building somewhere,” said Gabby.
“Is the water park across from my house a tourist spot?” asked Midge.
“I think it is just a water park,” said Jake. “I never heard anyone call it a tourist spot.”
“You know Jake,” said Midge. “People sure confuse me. Lets go see the animals here in the zoo and then go home and eat.”
“Okay,” said Jake. “Lets go.”
They went inside to see what animals were there.

The Alien Landing Strip

Midge was on the sidewalk in front of her house, when Booker-T walked up and joined her.
“What are you doing?” asked Booker-T.
“Looking at this strange drawing on the sidewalk,” said Midge.
“Who drew it?” asked Booker-T.
“I don't know,” said Midge. “I just saw it here and came out to see what it is.”
“Do you think it's code?” asked Booker-T.
“Code for what?” asked Midge. “Is it a small landing strip?”
“A landing strip for what?” asked Booker-T. “Maybe it is for birds to land on.”
