The Spilled Food

Midge was curled up asleep at the foot of the bed when her owner's alarm clock started to ring. She jumped up and stretched and leaped down off the warm bed. Her owner went to the bathroom for shower and dressed in her work clothes. Midge had already gone downstairs and was talking to Gabby and Snappy when she came down the stairs.
"Come on Midge," said her owner. "I'll get you something to eat before I leave this morning. It is very early. You can go lay back down girl if you want."

Midge talks with Snappy and Gabby

Midge came back to the living room after watching Jake and Booker-T walk across the back yard heading for their homes.
"Well, Jake and Booker-T have gone for the day," said Midge.
"I am glad that they came to see us and spend the day," said Gabby.
"Me too," agreed Snappy. "Do you think your owner will know they were here?"
"I don't think so," said Midge. "We didn't mess anything up I don't think."
"Maybe you better run check before she comes in the driveway," said Gabby.
"I think you are right," said Midge. "Will you help me Gabby?"

The Three Friends Search for Food

As the three ran to the kitchen, Midge turned to see where Gabby was.
"Be careful Gabby," said Midge. "Don't fly into the wall above the door."
"Okay Midge," said Gabby. "I remember I am inside and not outside where I can fly high."
"Good," said Jake. "If you hit the wall, you really will be injured."
"This is true," laughed Gabby. "And I know it would hurt a lot."
"Are you sure it would hurt a lot?" asked Booker-T.
"Oh yes," smiled Gabby. "I ran into a window once. It hurt. I fell to the grass and think I saw stars that day."
"You don't want to do that again Gabby," said Jake.

The Friends Spend the Day Together

The three friends entered Midge's house through her little door in the back door. They quickly crossed the kitchen floor to the living room where they found Snappy in the big tank and Gabby was sitting on the edge of the tank.
“Hi guys,” said Midge as she crossed the room.
“Hi Midge,” said Gabby. “Hi Booker-T and Jake. How are you this morning?”
“We are good,” said Jake. “How are you doing?”
“You look like you are enjoying it here,” said Booker-T.
“Oh yes,” said Gabby. “It is really nice in here and Midge's owner is very nice to us. I think Snappy wants to stay here all the time.”
“That would be nice,” said Snappy. “She feeds me nice food. Better than I find at the pond.”
