Midge sat on the front porch looking at the rain falling all around. Booker-T ran through the rain and jumped onto the porch with Midge.
“What are you doing?” asked Booker-T.
“Sitting here watching the rain,” said Midge. “Do you like to play in the rain?”
“Sometimes,” said Booker-T. “Maybe it will stop raining later.”
“Maybe,” said Midge. “Have you heard the rain song?”
“What rain song?” asked Booker-T.
The four friends strolled along the sidewalk to the petting zoo area of the big transfer building. They ran around the building and found many little humans visiting all the baby animals.
“Wow, look at all the animals in there,” said Booker-T.
“Do you see the little pig,” said Midge.
“Hi,” said a little pig that walked up to Midge. “Are you looking for me?”
“I don't know,” said Midge. “What is your name?”
“I'm Curly,” said the little pig.
“That is a cute name,” smiled Lucy.
Midge and Booker-T sat on Midge's porch waiting for Jake and Lucy to come. Gabby flew down from the trees and landed on the porch rail.
“Hi Gabby,” greeted Midge. “What are you doing?”
“Just flying around the city and checking things out,” said Gabby.
“You always find fun things to do,” said Midge. “What is happening in the city today?”
“There is a ball game starting in the park,” said Gabby. “Do you want to go watch the game?”
“Is that the ball game with the little humans?” asked Midge.
Midge walked to Booker-T's house next door and as she entered the gate into the yard, she saw Booker-T coming around the house from the back yard.
“Hi Booker-T,” greeted Midge. “Are you ready to go to Jake's house?”
“Lets go Midge,” smiled Booker-T.
They strolled along the sidewalk on their way to Jake's house. Suddenly Midge saw something in the sky that glistened. She stopped and stared at the sky.
“What is wrong, Midge?” asked Booker-T.
Midge and Booker-T strolled along the sidewalk on their way to Jake's house. They entered the yard through the gate and found Jake napping on the porch swing.
“Hey Jake!” called Midge as she tapped him on the head with her paw. “Wake up Jake!”
“Wakey wakey!” laughed Booker-T.
Jake sat up and blinked his eyes at them. “I'm awake!” said Jake.
“You were sleeping,” said Midge.
“Maybe a little,” said Jake. “Maybe I was just resting my eyes.”
Midge hurried around to the front yard and out the gate on her way to Booker-T's house next door. She ran around to his back door and crawled through the doogie door into the kitchen.
“Hey, Booker-T!” called Midge. “Where are you? Wake up!”
Booker-T entered the kitchen.
“Hi Midge,” said Booker-T. “What are you doing this morning?”
“Come on,” said Midge. “Come to my house. I have something to show you.”
“What happened?” asked Booker-T.
Midge sat on the front porch waiting for Booker-T to walk over and then they are going to walk to Jake's house. As she sat there looking around, she saw something lurking in the bushes outside the fence. Midge stared in the direction of the bushes and when Booker-T came and walked into the yard through the gate, something followed him into the yard.
“Hi Midge,” greeted Booker-T.
“Who is your friend?” asked Midge.
“What friend?” asked Booker-T looking confused. “I don't have anyone with me.”
“Look behind you,” said Midge.
Booker-T turned to look and there sat a small animal standing there staring at them.
“Who are you?” asked Midge standing up and walking toward Booker-T.
Midge was sitting on the front porch staring at the bush near the house with pretty red flowers on it. Booker-T came through the gate and sat beside her on the porch.
“What are you doing?” asked Booker-T.
“I'm watching this tiny bird,” said Midge. “See it on the flowers?”
Booker-T started at the bush and didn't see the tiny bird. “What bird?” asked Booker-T.
“That little one over there,” said Midge pointing to the bird with the very fast wings. “See it?”
Booker-T stepped closer to look and something flew over his head. “I don't see it.”
“It just flew over your head,” said Midge. “I think you scared it.”
Jake and Lucy strolled along the sidewalk on their way to to Midge's house. As they started to pass the hot dog stand, Lucy pressed her nose against the window and saw no one inside.
“What are you doing?” asked Jake.
“Don't you want something to eat?” asked Lucy. “Don't you smell the food?”
“Yes,” said Jake. “Can you see anyone in there?”
“No,” sighed Lucy. “I think they are hiding from us.”
“Why?” asked Jake.
“So they don't see us begging for something to eat,” said Lucy.
Midge and Booker-T strolled along the sidewalk to Jake's house. They hurried through the gate and ran to the porch where they found Jake asleep on the porch swing. Lucy came through the gate and joined Midge and Booker-T at the porch.
“Hey Jake!” called Midge. “Time to wake up now.”
“sh sh sh!” said Booker-T. “Listen!”
“What is that?” asked Lucy.
“Jake is snoring,” laughed Midge.
“Hey Jake!” called Lucy. “Wake up? You are snoring.”
Midge was sitting on the front porch when Booker-T came through the gate.
“What's up Doc?” smiled Midge.
“Doc?” said Booker-T. “I'm not a doc, Midge. I'm just a little cat.”
“I know,” said Midge. “How about a carrot, Doc?”
“Hello Midge,” said Booker-T. “Are you in there?”
Midge and Booker-T ran through the gate into Jake's front yard and found Jake napping on the front porch swing.
“Hey Jake!” called Midge. “Jake! Wake up!”
Jake blinked his eyes and saw Midge and Booker-T standing at the porch.
“What are you guys doing?” asked Jake.
“We came to get you so we can go to the farm,” said Midge.
“Did you forget?” asked Booker-T.
“Forget what?” asked Jake.
Stormy walked to the platform that the owner built that would help young kids climb on top of the horses.
“Get on the platform, Midge,” said Stormy. “Then you can climb on my back.”
“You don't have a saddle on you,” said Midge. “Do I need the saddle?”
“No,” said Stormy. “Lot of people ride horses with no saddles.”
Midge climbed the few steps to the top of the platform and walked to the edge where Stormy stood waiting for Midge to climb on his back. She jumped on top of his back and sat down.
“How do I hold on?” asked Midge. “There isn't a strap or saddle to hold on to.”
The four friends ran across the front yard of the farm house on their way to the pasture where they saw the horses standing around in front of the new stables with stalls for each horse.
“Hi guys,” said Lucy as they arrived at the stalls.
“Hi little one,” smiled the big brown horse. “You were in the truck, weren't you?”
“Yes,” said Lucy. “These are my friends. They came to meet you.”
“I like horses,” smiled Booker-T.
“Thank you,” said the big brown horse.
Booker-T walked to Midge's house next door. He hurried through the gate and ran to the back yard of the house. In the back, he crawled through the doggie door into the kitchen.
“Hey Midge!” called Booker-T. “Where are you ?”
“Hi Booker-T,” said Snappy as he saw him enter the living room from the kitchen.
Booker-T ran and jumped into the chair next to the tank and climbed to the top of the tank and look inside.
“Hi Snappy,” greeted Booker-T.
“What are you doing?” asked Snappy.
Midge was sitting on the front porch when Booker-T walked over and sat down beside her.
“Hi Booker-T,” smiled Midge. “What are you doing?”
“I'm sitting here with you,” said Booker-T.
“I see that,” laughed Midge. “What else are you doing?”
“I don't know,” said Booker-T. “Just sitting here doing nothing with you.”
“What are we going to do today?” asked Midge.
“I don't know,” said Booker-T. “Don't you have an idea?”
Midge, Jake, Booker-T and Lucy walked walked along the sidewalk, on their way to the zoo building to visit the petting zoo that is set up behind the building. Suddenly from above, they heard a swirling noise and looked up. Something shiny was flying above them.
“Jake,” whispered Midge. “What is that?”
“I don't know,” said Jake staring at the object above them. “Look at it. It has eyes.”
“Is it a space ship, Jake?” asked Lucy.
“I don't know,” said Jake. “Hello space guys. What do you want?”
Midge was prancing around on the front porch, back and forth. Got on two legs and was dancing around when Jake and Lucy walked through the front yard gate. Booker-T came in behind them and they stood there watching Midge as she danced around.
“What are you doing?” asked Jake.
“Hi there,” smiled Midge.
“What are you doing?” asked Booker-T. “You look like you are dancing?”
“I was,” said Midge. “I'm a dancing star.”
“A star of what?” asked Lucy.
Gabby flew down from the trees and landed on the porch railing at Midge's house where Midge was sitting on the porch swing in the sun.
“Hi Midge,” greeted Gabby. “What are you doing?”
“I'm just sitting here enjoying the early morning sun,” said Midge.
“Where are Jake, Booker-T and Lucy?” asked Gabby.
“They will be here soon,” said Midge. “We are excited to go see the bird in the cage. Is it outside this morning?”
“I will go fly over there and see if he is outside and you wait for them,” said Gabby. “I will be right back.”
Midge ran over to Booker-T's house next door and together they walked to Jake's house and found him in his favorite spot on the porch swing.
“Hey Jake,” said Midge as they walked to the porch. “What are you doing?”
“I'm sitting here waiting for you and Booker-T,” said Jake.
“You were napping,” laughed Booker-T.
“I wasn't sleeping,” said Jake. “I was resting my eyes.”
