The Monster Display

Hey Midge!” called Booker-T as he ran into the living room of her house. “Where are you?”
Hi Booker-T,” said Snappy. “Midge is in the bedroom. What are you doing?”
He Snappy,” smiled Booker-T. “Did Midge tell you about the big monsters we saw yesterday?”
She was telling me about them last night,” said Snappy. “They sound too big. The could step on me and not know it, I'm so small.”
You are safe there in your nice home,” said Booker-T. “How are your new friends who are living there with you?”

Sammy and Jimmy are fun,” said Snappy. “They are always playing around when they have a free moment. But they work really hard all the time. They are like busy bees.”
Hmmm,” laughed Booker-T. “Busy bee ants.”
Hi Booker-T,” greeted Midge as she entered the living room from the bedroom. “Hi Snappy.”
Hi Midge,” said Snappy. “Where are you and Booker-T going this morning?”
Booker-T didn't tell you?” asked Midge.
No, we hadn't gotten that far yet,” laughed Snappy. “He asked me if you told me about the monsters..”
We are going to see the statues of the monsters this morning,” said Midge. “The museum is setting up a display near the circus grounds so everyone can go see them.”
I am glad they are statues,” said Snappy.
Why?” asked Booker-T.
Because if they were real,” said Snappy. “They could step on you and squash you.”
That's true,” said Booker-T. “I don't want to be squashed.”
I don't want to be squashed either,” said Midge. “I hope they don't come to our town.”
Maybe they won't come,” said Snappy. “Maybe only the statues will come.”
You don't want to go see them?” asked Midge. “I think Jake will be happy to put you in the wagon and you can come along with us.”
Oh no, if any of them are real, I might get stepped on,” said Snappy. “I will stay here and you can tell me all about it when you get home.”
We will be careful Snappy,” said Booker-T.
We will tell you all about the monsters when we come home,” said Midge.
Okay,” agreed Snappy.
Booker-T and Midge said good-bye to Snappy as they headed to the door. Midge lowered her head and tried to push through the little doggie door in the kitchen. “What is wrong with this thing?” said Midge.
She heard a voice from the other side of the door, “Hey Midge!” called Jake. “Your little door is locked!”
Come on in Jake,” laughed Midge. “It isn't locked but you were pushing on that side of the door while I was pushing on this side of the door.”
Hi,” said Jake as he walked into the kitchen. “Hi Booker-T.”
Want to go see Snappy before we go see the monsters?” asked Midge.
Yes,” said Jake as he walked toward the living room.
Midge and Booker-T turned around and followed Jake to the living room.
Hi Snappy,” called Jake as he crossed the room to where Snappy's tank stood.
Hey there Jake,” smiled Snappy. “I'm happy you come to see me.”
Do you want to come with us to see the monsters?” asked Jake. “I can put you in the wagon and pull you to the display of their statues if you want to go with us.”
Oh no,” said Snappy. “If those monsters came there to see the statues of themselves, I might get stepped on.”
Oh Jake,” said Midge. “Do you think one of them monsters might come to see the statues of themselves?”
I don't know,” said Jake. “I guess they could come. Do you want to stay home?”
Hmmmm,” thought Midge a minute. “No, I want to go see them. If one of them comes we can hide under the statues.”
Do you think we will be safe when we go see these monsters?” asked Booker-T. “I don't want to be come a pancake laying on the ground.”
Oh no,” laughed Snappy. “You can just slide under the door when you become a pancake.”
Oh boy,” laughed Midge. “Booker-T, you aren't going to be a pancake. Jake and I will watch out for you.”
But you might end up a pancake too,” said Booker-T.
I think we will be okay Booker-T,” said Jake. “I don't think the monsters will be here.”
But you really don't know,” said Booker-T feeling a little scared inside.
No, I really don't know for sure,” said Jake. “But they would be so big that we could see them coming a long way away and we can run if they come.”
Okay,” said Booker-T. “I can sure run fast if I need to.”
We will see you later Snappy,” said Midge. “After we see the big monsters, we might go to the zoo and see if there are any new animals there.”
Okay,” said Snappy. “Be careful out there.”
Bye Snappy,” said Jake. “I will come back to see you tomorrow.”
Okay,” said Snappy as he watched the three leave the living room.”
The three hurried outside and up the sidewalk to the where the monster display was going to be. As they got closer to the park area where they were set up in, they could see the tops of the monsters.
Jake!” said Midge. “Look there! See that big head over there. Jake, it's moving!”
They are here!” said Booker-T. “Oh my goodness, they are really here. Are you sure you want to get closer to them?”
We won't get too close,” said Jake. “We will wait across the street from them and see what they are going to do.”
Do you think we will be safe there?” asked Midge. “I don't want to be a pancake Jake. I like to eat pancakes, but I don't want to be one.”
Look!” said Midge. “That one over there is moving too. I didn't think the monsters would be here.”
They stood across the street and stared at them. “They aren't here,” said Jake. “It is okay. We can walk over there. The statues are moving their heads, but they aren't real.”
Oh wow,” said Midge. “From back there, they looked so real.”
They sure are big Jake,” said Booker-T as he stood staring up at one of them.
They sure are,” said Jake. “This one here looks really mean.”
What does that sign say?” asked Booker-T.
This one is called, T-Rex,” said Jake. “That is a funny name. Wonder what kind of animal a T-Rex is?”
I think that sign over there said these all are dinosaurs,” said Midge.
So, these dinosaurs are all monsters?” asked Booker-T.
I think so,” said Jake. “Look at that one over there. He looks like an elephant but he has a lot of hair on him.”
What kind of elephant is he?” asked Midge.
Lets go see what the sign says,” said Jake as they started to walk over to the big animal.
It is something called a mammoth,” said Midge.
That's a funny name for an elephant,” said Booker-T.
These are sure big animals,” said Jake. “Some of them look scary. I hope they never come to our city.”
Me too,” said Midge.
Do you want to go to the zoo now?” asked Booker-T.
Okay,” agreed Midge. “Are you ready to go Jake?”
Yes,” said Jake as they took one more look at the big animals before going to the zoo.
