The Big Announcement

Booker-T ran to Midge's house and crawled through the doggie door.
“Hey Midge!” called Booker-T. As he crossed the kitchen to the living room and leaped into the chair next to Snappy's tank.
“Hi Booker-T,” greeted Snappy.
“Hey Snappy,” replied Booker-T. “Where's Midge this morning?”
“Maybe sleeping,” suggested Snappy. “I didn't see her come out of the bedroom yet. Where are you going today?”
“Did Midge tell you about the strange vehicle we saw yesterday with a robot in it?” asked Booker-T.

“She said it was shaped like a peanut with blue wheels,” smiled Snappy.
“Yes and inside this robot got out and it had green and blue hair,” said Booker-T.
“Wow!” said Snappy. “That's cool. A real robot.”
“They aren't real,” said Booker-T. “Just a robot made of metal.”
“That's okay,” said Snappy. “Where is the robot?”
“He is at the picnic tents,” said Midge as she entered the room. “Hi Booker-T.”
“Are you going to go watch the robot?” asked Snappy.
“Yes,” said Midge. “Do you want to come with us to see it? We can get the wagon for you to ride in.”
“No,” said Snappy. “there will be a lot of people there and I might be stepped on if I am out of the wagon, You go see and tell me all about it.”
“Okay Snappy,” smiled Midge. “We don't want you to get stepped on and hurt.”
“Good-bye Snappy,” said Booker-T as he jumped down from the chair and headed to the kitchen following Midge.
“See you later,” called Midge as she entered the kitchen.
They hurried along the sidewalk to Jake's house and ran through the gate and didn't see Jake anywhere.
“Jake!” called Midge. “Are you ready to go?”
Jake came running around the house from the back yard. “I'm ready.”
They ran along the sidewalk on their way to the park and ran to the picnic area where people were starting to come with much food. Everything smelled so good and the three walked around smelling all the wonderful food scents.
“Everything smells so good,” smiled Midge.
“I hope someone will give us a bite to eat,” said Booker-T.
“I'm so gald the snow didn't last long yesterday,” said Jake. “It already melted away.”
“Did you see inside that big tent?” asked Midge.
“See what?” asked Booker-T.
“There is a big heater in there,” said Jake. “It feels so good in here right now.”
“Is there heat in there where the stage is?” asked Midge. “Sure is strange having a picnic in the cold weather.”
“I thought so too,” said Jake. “We never do a picnic in the cold.”
People were coming and filling the table with a lot of food. A family had filled their plates and found somewhere to sit in the heated tent. The three walked close to the their table and sat down.
“Look at the pretty dogs,” said a young girl at the table.
“But I'm not a dog,” said Booker-T to Midge. “I”m a cat.”
“I think she knows,” smiled Midge. “ Start looking hungry.”
“How do I look hungry?” laughed Booker-T as he stared walking around Midge with his head down and tongue hanging out. “Does this look hungry enough Midge?”
“Ha ha” laughed Midge. “You look like you are looking for something.”
“Maybe it will work,” smiled Jake.
“Food, I'm looking for,” said Booker-T. “I want some food.”
They laid down while they watched the humans eating all the good smelling foods.
“Can I give them something to eat Mommy?” asked the little boy.”
“Yes, Yes,” said Booker-T as he sat up. “We need food.”
As if the little boy heard them, he tossed out some food to them.
“Lets go walk around and maybe we can find some more,” suggested Midge.
Jake and Booker-T agreed and as they started to walk around, they heard the music start to play. “Jake is that the concert starting?” asked Booker-T.
“Maybe,s” said Midge. “Lets go see.”
“But I'm hungry,” said Booker-T.
“Later,” said Midge. “Come on.”
In the large tent next to this one, they saw people on the stage with the robot who has the green and blue hair.
“Come on in everyone and have a seat,” said the man from the stage who was wearing a black suit which sparkled with red, green and blue lights and gems.. “Hello everyone.”
People screamed black “Hello!”
“Thank you for coming,” said the man. “Give a hand to the Star Gazer dancers and the star here is Robby the Robot.”
The kids were screaming and the crowd was clapping as the dancers danced around Robby.
“Who is Robby?” whispered Midge.
“He's that robot with the green and blue hair,” said Jake.
“I know that part,” said Midge. “But who is he?”
“I don't know,” said Jake. “Listen and maybe they will tell us.”
“Coming to your city straight from Hollywood,” said the man. The Star Gazer Community Center for all the kiddies and the grownups. We will open the facility in June.”
“Wow,” said Jake. “He is the one digging the new pool.”
“It's going to be more than just a pool, Jake,” said Midge.
“And I can go too,” said Booker-T. “He said it was for all the kitties.”
“No,” said Jake. “He said kiddies.”
“Isn't that the same thing?” said Booker-T.
“No,” said Midge. “Kiddies are little people and you are a cat. Kitties are cats.”
“Oh,” sighed Booker-T.
“You know Midge,” said Jake. “If there is a way in, she will find it.”
“Ah yes,” smiled Booker-T. “Our Midge is a sneak.”
“Lets go home,” said Jake. I'm hungry.”
The others agreed and they walked home. “Look Jake,” said Midge. “It is starting to snow again.”

“Maybe this time we will get more snow.”
