It's an Idea

The four friends sat staring at each other trying to find a fun idea they can do.

Booker-T jumped up and said, “I got an idea!”

It is a fun idea?” asked Midge. “I want to have fun.”

Me too,” said Lucy. “Can we have human fun? I like human fun.”

Me too,” smiled Midge. “Lucy and I like human fun. Like dancing, fishing, bungee jumping.”

Skateboarding,” said Lucy. “I haven't tried that one. They are building something again near the farm.”

What are they building?” asked Jake.

I don't know,” said Lucy. “I can't read the sign and we stopped learning how to read. It was too hard to do.”

Lets go see what it is,” said Midge. “Maybe it will be a fun thing we can try.”

Okay, let's go,” said Booker-T. “Jake can read the sign when we get there.”

The four friends hurried along the side walk to the farm. They ran across the field to the barn where the cows were standing around watching the horses in the pasture running around and chasing each other.

Hi Daisy,” greeted Midge.

Hi guys,” smiled Daisy. “What are you doing?”

I was telling them about the building that is going on over that hill,” said Lucy.

I hear them working over there,” said Daisy. “But we don't know what it is.”

Are you going over there to see it?” asked Betsy.

Yes,” smiled Lucy.

Don't get into trouble,” said Daisy.

We will, Daisy,” said Lucy.

What do you mean you will?” asked Betsy.

I mean, we won't,” said Lucy. “We will just go check it out to see what they are building and then we will come back.”

Okay,” said Daisy.

The four friends crawled under the fence and ran across the road and climbed the hill to see what was going on over the hill. They saw tractors and big trucks and lot of humans walking all over the place.

What does it say on the side of that truck?” asked Booker-T.

It says, Jason Ballard's Excavation,” said Jake. “And it says Archeologists, under that.”

What is an arcologist?” asked Midge.

It is archeologist,” laughed Jake

What do they do?” asked Lucy. “Are they something from outer space?”

Maybe the space aliens are coming now,” suggested Midge. “I never heard that arcologist before.”

It's archeologist,” said Jake. “They dig for old stuff.”

What kind of old stuff?” asked Booker-T.

We are good diggers,” said Midge. “Maybe we can help them dig.”

I don't think so,” said Jake. “My owner watched something on TV one night about archeologists and what they do. They dig up old bones.”

I like to dig up bones,” said Lucy. “I always bury my bones and forget where I put them.”

Maybe they can help you find your buried bones,” laughed Midge. “Why don't they use those tractors to dig?”

They have to do it all buy hand,” said Jake. “The tractor would mess up the bones.”

Why do the humans want those old bones,” asked Booker-T.

I think they are looking for dinosaur bones,” suggested Jake.

Can we go down there and see if they found some bones?” asked Lucy as she started walking down the hill.

We better not,” said Jake.

It's okay,” said Lucy. “I just want to see.”

Me too,” said Midge. “Maybe they will find a nice bone we can chew on.”

Oh no,” said Jake.

Jake and Booker-T followed Lucy and Midge down the hill. Next to a tree, they saw some bones laying there and someone was brushing them off. They stood up and walked over to the red truck that was parked close by.

Come on Lucy,” said Midge as she ran toward the tree. “Lets go get a bone.”

Wait for me!” shouted Lucy and she quickly followed Midge to the pile of bones.

Midge and Lucy each grabbed a small bone and took off running up the hill.

Hey George!” shouted one of the humans. “Get those dogs! They took a bone from that pile.”

Hey doggie!” shouted the large human. “Drop those bones! They aren't for dogs.”

Midge and Lucy were running with the bones in their mouth when two other large humans ran up to them from the front. One grabbed Midge and the other grabbed Lucy.

Drop the bones!” said the human called George. “You can't have these bones.”

Why don't they want us to have the bones?” asked Midge.

I don't know,” said Lucy. “I think we better drop the bones.”

Lucy and Midge dropped the bones at their feet and stared at them as they carefully picked up the bones and looked at them as they placed them in a box.

Scoot!” said one of the humans as they turned to walk away, carrying the box with the bones in it.

Maybe we can go over there and dig up our own bones,” suggested Lucy.

Can we go dig too?” asked Midge.

Maybe we can go dig in the pasture at the farm,” suggested Jake. “Maybe we

can find our own dinosaur.”

What would we do with a dinosaur?” asked Booker-T. “They are a lot bigger than we are.”

They won't be alive,” laughed Midge.

Okay,” said Lucy. “Lets go dig for bones.”

The four ran back to the farm and ran into the pasture to start digging for their dinosaur. They dug for about 10 minutes when Midge sat down.

I'm tired now,” said Midge. “I don't want to dig anymore. Lets go get something to eat and take a nap under the tree.”

I like that idea too,” said Booker-T.

They all ran for the barn to get something to eat.
