The Park is Busy

 

They ran to the train and jumped into the back car when it stopped at the station and big humans got off the train and walked to the where the little humans were playing ball. A big human and a small human got on the train in the car in front of the one where the animals were sitting.

“Look at the animals, mom,” said the little humans. “They are riding the train.”

“Isn't that cute,” smiled the big human as she turned to look toward the front of the train. “Maybe their owners are riding the train also.”

“Here doggie doggie,” said the little human as he stuck out his hand toward the animals.

Midge, Jake, Booker-T and Lucy sat staring the humans. Midge leaned forward and sniffed the little human's hand.

“Hey, look over there,” said Jake.

“What are they doing?” asked Booker-T.

“Is it another ball game with little humans?” asked Lucy. “Lets go see what they are doing?”

As the train pulled into the next little station, they leaped off the train and ran to the humans who were standing around. When they got close, they saw little humans sitting around the picnic tables.

“What are they doing?” asked Booker-T.

“I think they are drawing pictures,” said Midge.

“Why?” asked Lucy.

“I don't know,” said Midge. “Why are all these people here at the park? It is really busy today.”

“Do you see a sign, Jake?” asked Booker-T.

Jake looked around the area and saw a sign hanging on the train station building.

“Wait here,” said Jake as he started to run to the building to check out the sign.

He stood reading the sign and then ran back to where the others were standing and watching the little humans.

“What is it?” asked Midge.

“They are having a Children's festival here at the park,” said Jake.

“What is a festival?” asked Lucy.

“It said there was a ball game for little ones and another ball game for bigger humans,” said Jake. “It said there was a place for little ones to draw pictures, in another area, they are having some dancing for the humans and some games like jump rope, hopscotch, jacks, marbles and then there is a section for them to eat.”

“I want to eat,” said Booker-T. “Lets find the food!”

“Lets walk around the park to see what they are doing and maybe will will find the food along the way,” suggested Midge.

They started to walk around the park. They saw the humans jumping rope and Midge ran over to them and jumped into the rope and jumped up and down with the little girl human.

“Hey!” laughed the girl human. “Look mom, the dog can jump.”

Lucy ran into the rope of another little one and started jumping up and down with her.

“This is fun,” said Lucy. “Lets go try another one.”

“What is marbles?” asked Booker-T.

“I don't know,” said Jake. “Look there are signs for the different games. Over there, it says Marbles on the sign.”

They ran to where the sign was and saw little humans on the ground with tiny balls. They were pushing one tiny ball into a circle to hit other little balls.

“Look at the little balls,” said Jake. “If they threw those balls, they would get lost.”

“It looks like they take the balls if they roll out of that circle,” said Midge. “I will try to get a ball if rolls out.”

They stood and watched them hitting one little ball with another one. Suddenly a ball came rolling out of the circle near Midge and she grabbed the little ball.

“Hey!” said the little human. “Give me the marble!”

Another little human started to come to Midge to get the marble. Midge ran and she dropped the marble and the little human stopped to try and find the little marble.

“I don't think they want to play ball with us,” sighed Lucy. “Did you loose the ball?”

“I lost it back there,” said Midge. “It is a really small ball. That is a funny game to play.”

“Lets go find the food,” said Booker-T. “I'm hungry.”

“They won't give us any food,” said Midge.

“Maybe they will,” suggested Booker-T. “You can dance for them, Midge.”

“Why don't you dance?” asked Midge.

“But you dance better than I do,” said Booker-T.

“We can all beg,” laughed Midge. “You are hungry, Booker-T so you can beg with me.”

“I like to beg,” said Booker-T. “Or we can just walk around and find what the little humans dropped on the ground.”

“We can do that,” said Lucy. “But if we beg, little humans always tosses out some food.”

“Okay,” said Jake. “Lets go find the food.”

They walked around the park and found the good area was set up at the last little train station where they had a lot of picnic tables behind the building. A tent was set up where they were passing out the food. It smelled so good and they stood smelling the food for a short time and then walked to the tables where some little humans were eating. They all got close and sat staring at them.. then they all sat up on the hind legs and begged with their front paws.. Two little humans tossed out some fries to them.

“The fries taste good,” said Booker-T. “Look over there. Some food laying on the ground where a little human dropped a some food”

They all ran over and sat eating the food from the ground.

“That was good,” said Lucy. “Lets go home now and take a nap.”

“Ok,” laughed Midge as she started to run across the park to the corner where they crossed the street.
