“Hello everyone. I’m
Midge. I’m a little black and white
cocker spaniel. I live with my mistress
in a beige brick home. Do you have pets
at home? Pets are nice to have. We love
our humans who take care of us unconditionally.
It’s nice to have a good home with loving humans. I love my mistress. She takes good care of
me. She has a little nephew who comes to
visit us sometimes and he likes to run and play when he isn’t getting into
mischief and causing me problems. I
have heard my mistress tell people that he is a typical little boy.

Booker-T's Good Mood
“Dum de dum dum,” sang Booker-T as he skipped along the
sidewalk to Jake’s place. He quickly
turned the corner and hurried up the sidewalk to the porch. “Hi ya Jake.”
“What are you doing
this morning Booker-T?” asked Jake. “You
sound like you are in a good mood. I
don’t think I have ever heard you sing before.”
“I am real happy
this morning Jake,” said Booker-T.
“What is going on?”
asked Jake.

Midge and the Baby Birds
“Hey Jake!”
screamed Midge as she hurried up the sidewalk to the porch. “Where are you
Jake?”
“Midge!” shouted
Jake as he sat up bumping his head on the bottom of the swing. “I am right
here, where you see me every day at this time.”
“I know it,” said
Midge. “That is your favorite spot.”
“If you know it,”
said Jake. “Why do you always ask me
where I am?”
“I don’t know,”
said Midge. “I guess because when I
start walking to the porch, I can’t see you behind that table.”
“Wait til you step
up onto the porch before you ask me,” said Jake. “You always scream and I jump
up and hit my head every time.”

Jake Sleeps Soundly
Midge comes sauntering up the sidewalk to the porch where Jake is sleeping. "Jake!" screams Midge.
"Hey! You scared me!" said Jake. "What are you doing?"
"I couldn't resist yelling your name," said Midge. "You didn't hear me walk up on the porch. Great watch dog you are."
"Ha ha ha," said Jake. "I would have heard a person walking up the steps."
"How do you know?" asked Midge.
"I always here the mailman when he walks up," said Jake. "I'm awake before he gets on the porch."
"But you don't wake up when a dog walks up?" asked Midge.
"I guess not," said Jake. "I was dreaming and didn't hear you coming up the steps."

Midge Arrives Early at Jake's
"Hey Jake!" called Midge as she strolled up the sidewalk to the front porch. "What are you doing Jake?"
"Hi Midge," greeted Jake. "What are you doing here so early? It's only 6:00 am."
"I know," said Midge. "My mistress had to leave the house early today and I was just laying there by myself and decided to come see if you were awake yet."
"I am always up early in the morning," said Jake. " I come out on the front porch around 5:30 am to enjoy the quiet of the morning. My mistress gets up at 5:30 am to get ready for work."
"Why does she get up so early?" asked Midge. "My mistress doesn't usually get up til 6:30 am and then she leaves the house at 7:30. I thought your mistress left the house at 7:30 also."

Jake and Halloween
"Hey Jake!" called Midge as she strolled up the sidewalk to the porch. "Jake! What are you doing today?"
"Hi Midge," said Jake as he sat up. "I was watching the kids going to school this morning. They look funny."
"Why do you think they look funny today?" asked Midge.
"Have you seen them today?" asked Jake.
"No, I haven't seen any this morning yet," said Midge. "What are they doing?"
"No, it's not what they are doing," said Jake. "It's what they are wearing. They aren't right this morning."
"They are dressed really funny," said Jake. "Won't the school be upset with them looking bad and send them home?"

Midge Finds Jake Napping
“Jake!” called Midge as she hurried up the sidewalk to the porch. “What are you doing this morning? Are you sleeping again?”
“I was napping Midge,” said Jake.
“Why?” asked Midge. “Didn’t you just get up? You should nap in the afternoon.”
“Why should I wait until afternoon if I’m sleepy in the morning?” asked Jake.
“You are such a lazy dog,” laughed Midge. “You will sleep your life away if you could.”
