Riding the Slide

Midge lay awake at the foot of her owner's bed waiting for her to fall asleep. It seemed like a long time before she finally was fast asleep. Midge quietly left the room and went to the kitchen where she pushed her way through the doggie door and walked around the the front porch to wait for Jake. When she approached the porch, she found Booker-T sitting on the bench.
Hi Booker-T,” smiled Midge. “Are you ready to try and sneak into the park?”
I saw someone walking around over there at the park,” said Booker-T.
Are you sure?” asked Midge, quickly turning around to look across the street. “Where was he?”

Into the Water Park

Midge!” called Jake as he strolled through the gate into her front yard. “What are you doing?”
I am just sitting here watching them work over there at the water park,” said Midge. “They turned on the water now.”
Are they checking it all out before they open it?” asked Booker-T as he hurried into the yard and sat next to Midge.
That slide is really big Jake,” said Midge. “I want to slide down that slide and go splashing into the water.”

The Water Park Plan

Good morning Midge,” said Jake as he hurried up the sidewalk to the porch where Midge was sitting. “What are you doing?”
Watching them putting up that big fence over there,” said Midge. “It is really big one.”
Maybe because the water would be dangerous if a kid was to fall in and drown,” said Jake.
But they don’t have a big fence around the pond in the park,” said Midge. “Why do they put up such a big fence around the water park?”
I don’t know,” said Jake. “I never thought about that.”
Kids play at the pond all the time without big people there,” said Midge. “Don’t that sign on the big fence say that they can’t go in there without some adult being with them?”

The Water Park

Midge ran to the house next door. “Booker-T!” called Midge as she ran through the gate. “Where are you?”
Hi Midge,” said Booker-T as he came around the corner of the house. “Why all the excitement? Are you okay?”
I’m on my way to Jake’s house,” said Midge. “Are you coming with me?”
Sure,” smiled Booker-T. “But why the big hurry?”
Did you see what they are doing across the street?” asked Midge.
I see the tractor is still digging,” said Booker-T.

Jake's Birthday

"Hey Jake!" called Midge as she skipped along the sidewalk to the front porch.  "Hey Jake! Where are you?"
"Hi Midge," called Jake as he came running around the corner of the house.  "What are you doing?"
"What are you doing?" asked Midge. "I am just coming to see you so we can go to the park."
"I was in the back yard," said Jake. "I just came outside.  You are early this morning. The sun is barely up yet."
"I know," said Midge.  "My owner went to work early today and I was bored sitting there at the house."
"How is Snappy?" asked Jake. "He is there to talk to."
"I know and we talked for a while," said Midge.  "But I was ready to come out and come see you."
 "Where is Booker-T?" asked Jake.

Something is Happening at the Park

“Jake! Jake!” screamed Midge as she ran up the sidewalk to Jake's house.
“Hey! Slow down” said Jake. “What is going on? Why the hurry?”
“Come on let's go!” aid Midge. “You have to see.”
“What do I have to see?” asked Jake. “Where is Booker-T?”
“He is already there,” said Midge. “He is waiting for us.”
“Where is he waiting?” asked Jake. “Slow down a minute.”
“He is at the park,” said Midge.
“What is he doing at the park?” asked Jake.
“Come on,” said Midge as she started out the gate with Jake running behind her.
The two raced along the sidewalk to the park. They quickly looked both ways and then ran across the street into the park. They found Booker-T sitting on one of the benches.

Jimmy and Sammy Ant

The morning came with the sun glistening brightly on all the snow that covered the ground. The snowflakes glistened like gems spread across the yard. Midge ran outside and wasn't out long when she scurried back through the doggie door into the kitchen.
Jake pushed his way through the door behind her. “HI Midge,” smiled Jake. “What are you doing?”
Hi Jake,” greeted Midge. “Isn't the snow pretty in the sunlight?”
It is really bright out there this morning,” said Jake. “But it feels very cold.”
I know,” said Midge. “That's why I hurried back inside. My feet were cold.”
Is Booker-T here?” asked Jake. “I didn't see him outside.”
