Jake and Midge were lying on the front porch watching the kids roller skating on the sidewalk.
“Wouldn’t it be neat to skate like that Jake?” asked Midge. “Just moving along the sidewalk on wheels.”
“I don’t think it would be real easy to stay up on those wheels,” said Jake. “I like my feet flat on the ground.”
“Hey you two!” called Booker-T as he wandered up the sidewalk. “What are you two talking about this morning?”
“Midge thought it would be fun to skate,” replied Jake. “Like those kids over there on the sidewalk across the street.”
“You, ha ha. You wouldn't be able to stand up,” laughed Booker-T. “I don’t think animals were made to have wheels on their feet. Aren’t you funny for even thinking it might be.”
“So cute, aren’t we Booker-T!” snapped Midge.
“Cool down Midge,” said Jake. “I don’t think Booker-T meant anything mean, did you Booker-T?”
“No!” said Booker-T. “What is up with you this morning?”
“And by the way, are you pulling pranks on Butch again?” asked Midge. "He said you have so you might as well fess up about it."
“Sure,” said Booker-T. “He falls for them all the time. You would think he would learn. But he never does. He always falls for them.”
“You are so mean Booker-T,” said Midge.
“I don’t’ mean any harm to anyone. I'm just having fun,” said Booker-T. “And it sure is fun finding new pranks to pull on Butch. He is so gullible.”
“One of these days, Booker-T, Butch is going to get you back for all you have done to him,” said Jake.
Around the corner came Butch carrying something in his teeth.
“What do you have?” asked Booker-T.
“A treat for you, Booker-T,” said Butch. “I brought it over here especially for you.”
Booker-T bit into the treat and Butch rolled on the grass laughing.
“What is so funny Butch?” asked Booker-T.
“You’ve been had,” laughed Midge. “Whatever Butch gave you to eat, it turned your mouth bright red! This time the prank is on you.”
“Jokes on you this time, Booker-T,” said Butch.
